Which turntable accessories do you need?
Turntable accessories fall into four groups. Record care keeps the grooves of your vinyl records clean, so the stylus reads music rather than dust. Turntable setup parts get the tonearm and record sitting right. Isolation keeps footsteps and speaker vibration out of the stylus. Upgrades replace parts of a Michell turntable with better ones. Start with record care: it helps every record on every turntable.
Record cleaning machine or manual cleaner?
- Manual: Knosti's Disco-Antistat washes a record in a bath, with a goat hair cleaning brush on each side and an alcohol-free fluid, while a tray keeps the label dry. Its drying rack holds up to 15 records. The Generation II Plus adds a larger label tray.
- Ultrasonic: Knosti's Disco-Antistat Ultrasonic 2.0 is a record cleaning machine that cleans the grooves with ultrasonic waves rather than brushes, with a magnetic axle that protects the label.
- Fluids: Knosti's Mixture is ready to use; its Ultraclean concentrate mixes 1:25 with its BiDest high-purity water to make 5 liters.
Record clamp and setup
- Record clamp: a record clamp, or stabilizer, presses the record flat against the platter. Michell's Record Clamp is Delrin with an aluminum knob, in a standard fitting for spindles of 6.5mm and up and an "R" fitting for 5mm and up. The Orbe Record Clamp Kit screws down onto a threaded spindle, which it includes, and fits the GyroDec and Gyro SE.
- Tracking angle: Michell's VTA Adjuster 3 raises a Rega tonearm by 2mm, more with its washers, so the arm sits level with a taller cartridge.
Rega tonearm upgrades
Michell makes three parts for a Rega tonearm. The TecnoWeight is an underslung counterweight that hangs the mass in line with the cartridge; it fits every Rega arm except the RB100 series. The Michell Rega Armplate, in silver or black, mounts a Rega arm on a Michell turntable. The VTA Adjuster 3, above, sets its height.
Turntable dust cover
- Michell Uni-Cover: a clear acrylic cover, without a hinge, for the TecnoDec and SE models.
- Michell Secure Cover: covers the whole Orbe SE or Gyro SE turntable, platter, motor and arm.
Audio isolation feet and bases
- Michell LEVIS: feet that hold the turntable on opposing magnets, in sets of three. The LEVIS takes 13 to 30kg and the LEVIS SE 9.5 to 14kg.
- Michell Iso Base: an inert platform on Tenderfeet, made for the Orbe SE, Gyro SE and TecnoDec.
Turntable accessories for Michell owners
- Orbe Platter Kit: a 60mm thick platter with a screw-down record clamp and a threaded spindle.
- HR Power Supply: replaces the motor power supply, with user-adjustable speed control.
- Drive Belt and Bearing Oil: service parts. The oil is made for inverted bearings like Michell's.
Brands of turntable accessories
- Michell Audio was founded by John Michell in the mid-1960s and assembles its turntables by hand in its Hertfordshire workshop.
- Knosti, in Bavaria, has made record-care products since 1976 and introduced its Disco-Antistat cleaner in 1978.

Turntable accessories: FAQs
Can I return an accessory? ODSY sells mainly on a final-sale basis, so check the fit with us before you order. Defective units and shipping errors are covered, as above. Opened items and preorder deposits can't be refunded. Read the full policy.
What harms vinyl records? Dirt in the grooves wears both the record and the stylus, and heat and stacking records flat can warp them. Clean records before you play them, and store them upright.
Will Michell parts fit my turntable? Many are made for Michell turntables or Rega tonearms only; each section above says which. Tell us your turntable and arm, and we'll confirm before you order.
