What does a turntable tonearm do?
A tonearm holds the cartridge over the record and lets it follow the groove from the edge to the center. It needs to be rigid, so the arm itself doesn't ring, and light and low in friction, so the stylus tracks the groove without dragging. Its counterweight sets the tracking force and its height sets the angle at which the stylus meets the record.
The Michell TecnoArm 2 here has a one-piece arm tube, shot-blasted and drilled with 22 holes underneath to cut its mass, ultra-low friction polymer bearings, and silver litz wiring with no internal joints. Its TecnoWeight counterweight sets the tracking force, and its VTA/SRA adjuster sets the height. Michell partners it with its Gyro and Orbe turntables; see high-end turntables.

Tonearm FAQs
Can I return a tonearm? ODSY sells mainly on a final-sale basis, so check the fit with us before you order. Defective units and shipping errors are covered, as above. Opened items and preorder deposits can't be refunded. Read the full policy.
What types of tonearms are there? Most are pivoted: they swing across the record on a bearing, a gimbal or a unipivot. A linear tracking arm moves straight across the record instead. The TecnoArm 2 is a pivoted arm.
Will it fit my turntable? Check the mounting distance first: the TecnoArm 2 needs 222mm from the platter center to the arm hole. Tell us your turntable and we'll confirm the fit, and whether you need an arm plate.
Which cartridge suits it? One whose compliance suits the arm's 12.5g effective mass. For Michell's CUSIS moving coil range, see turntable cartridges.
